The Mansurpur
unit is located on the NH-58 about 10 KM from Muzaffarnagar
(U.P.) and is also within close proximity of Northern Railway’s broad gauge
line.
Dhampur Group took over the
management of Mansurpur unit in 1985 in 50%
partnership with the previous owners. In 1998, Dhampur bought over the
partner’s shares and took independent control.
Since then, the mill has been
upgraded and it’s capacity progressively increased
from 1400 TCD to the current 8000 TCD. The small milling tandems were
replaced by large milling tandems and converted from manufacturing plantation
white sugar to raw and sulphurless refined sugar.
The entire engineering and project management was done in-house and in a
record time of five months. It now has a 100% back-end refinery following Defco Remelt Phospho Flotation process to produce top quality refined
sugar. The command area of the mill has substantial cane and about 70% of the
cane is delivered by the farmers directly at the mill gate, which ensures
fresh sugarcane and reduced transportation cost.
During the 2009-10 season, the unit was operational for 134 days and crushed
84.10 lac quintals of sugarcane, thereby witnessing
a daily increase of 20 % over the previous season.
Mansurpur has planned a cogeneration
facility of 28 MW and currently all output is being sold to the grid. This
unit was the first to introduce Bagasse Fired Lime
Kiln, which was conceived and developed in-house. The quality of the quick
lime produced is substantially better than that available locally. The unit
provides farmers with Press Mud for use as organic compost.
The farming community of this area
is quite progressive and well equipped with farm machinery. The area enjoys
100% irrigation which accounts for excellent yields. Cane Development
activities of the Mansurpur unit include
demonstrations of various cane development agricultural packages and
practices such as
§ Method of cane planting to increase
yield in per unit area.
§ Use of micro-nutrients based on
soil testing.
§ Use of bio-fertilizer to reduce
environment pollution and promote chemical free yields
§ Methods of mechanical control of
various pests and diseases of the sugarcane crop
§ Spray campaign to control
pest/insect particularly on Ratoon crop
§ Providing insecticides and
pesticides of standard companies on subsidized rates
§ Bio-control of different types of
pests
Mansurpur sponsors a cultural entertainment
program called Lok Rang at District level, every
year. From time to time it also organizes Ram Lila, Folk Song, Mushyara, Kavi Sammelans and Plays, to create awareness of Indian
history, ethics and care for the environment. Eye Camps and Family Planning
Camps are also arranged once a year for staff and the farming community
around the factory. The unit has a well equipped gymnasium and facilities for
Volley Ball, Kabaddi and Wrestling.
